
Bahir Manios
FOUNDER
As Founder and CEO of The Performance Lab, Bahir leads the organization’s overall vision and strategic direction, bringing together a best-in-class clinical team, state-of-the-art technology, and a unified model focused on injury recovery and performance care.
Bahir is also the Co-Founder of Genesis Financial, a private equity firm headquartered in Toronto, focused on investments in the healthcare, financials and infrastructure sectors. Bahir brings more than 20 years of experience from Brookfield Asset Management, an asset manager that manages over $1 trillion of assets, where he held senior executive roles including Chief Financial Officer, Chief Investment Officer of Brookfield Reinsurance, Chief Strategy Officer, and CFO of Brookfield Infrastructure. He was instrumental in launching new investment strategies across infrastructure, insurance, and credit platforms, raising over $45 billion in private capital. Bahir holds a bachelor’s degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and is a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Professional Accountants.

Shant Melkonian
Chief Revenue Officer & Chief Legal Officer
At The Performance Lab, Shant oversees revenue strategy, legal affairs, and business operations—ensuring the organization is positioned for sustainable growth and compliance in every facet of its work. He advises leadership on contractual, regulatory, and strategic matters while driving initiatives that expand TPL’s reach and partnerships.
Shant earned his Juris Doctor from Cooley Law School, where he participated in Advanced Trial Advocacy, and holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto. His career reflects a blend of legal expertise and business acumen, making him a key driver of TPL’s operational success.

Debi Martoccio
Chief Operating Officer
Debi directs the daily operations of The Performance Lab, ensuring that clinical, administrative, and patient experience functions work in seamless alignment. She leads initiatives in process improvement, safety and quality, and team development—drawing on decades of executive experience in healthcare leadership.
Before joining TPL, Debi served as Vice President and COO at AdventHealth Connerton for more than 15 years, Vice President of Patient Care/CNO at University Community Health, and held leadership roles in nursing, business development, and market management. She is also an adjunct faculty member at Ultimate Medical Academy, teaching in allied health programs. A member of Sigma Theta Tau International, Debi’s specialties include leadership, mentoring, and healthcare technology integration.

Dr. Hadi Shah, MD
Chief Medical Officer & Executive Director of Sports Medicine
As Chief Medical Officer at The Performance Lab, Dr. Hadi Shah oversees the strategic direction of TPL’s multidisciplinary care model. He works closely with physicians, therapists, and performance specialists to deliver coordinated, evidence-based treatment plans for athletes, active individuals, and patients recovering from musculoskeletal injuries or chronic conditions.
Board-certified in both Family Medicine and Sports Medicine, Dr. Shah serves as a Team Physician for the Tampa Bay Lightning and is a member of the National Hockey League Team Physicians Society. His expertise spans sports injury prevention and treatment, concussion care, osteoarthritis management, regenerative medicine (including PRP and stem cell therapy), hormone-replacement therapy, musculoskeletal care, and fracture management.
Dr. Shah earned his medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine before completing his Family Medicine residency—serving as Chief Resident—at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine/New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He went on to complete a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Nevada School of Medicine. Throughout his career, Dr. Shah has been affiliated with leading hospitals including Tampa General, St. Joseph’s, and Memorial Hospital of Tampa, and is an active member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and the American College of Sports Medicine.

Dr. Michael Lorenz, MD
EXECUTIVE MEDICAL DIRECTOR
Dr. Michael Lorenz serves as Medical Director of The Performance Lab, where he leads with a deep commitment to integrated, physician-led care. Board-certified in Internal Medicine, Dr. Lorenz brings decades of experience in managing complex injuries in collaboration with neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons, and rehabilitation specialists. His approach focuses on treating the whole patient—ensuring timely diagnosis, coordinated care, and effective recovery strategies for individuals facing acute injury, chronic conditions, or functional decline.

Dr. Marissa McCarthy, MD
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, BRAIN HEALTH & STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS
Dr. Marissa McCarthy is a double board-certified physician in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Brain Injury Medicine. As Executive Director of Brain Health and Strategic Partnerships at The Performance Lab, she leads the development of patient-centered brain health services that blend medical innovation with compassionate care. Dr. McCarthy serves as Program Director for the University of South Florida’s PM&R Residency Program and holds an academic appointment in USF’s Department of Neurology. Her work helps shape advanced care pathways for concussion, cognitive rehabilitation, and brain optimization.

Lauren King
Executive Director, Clinical Strategy & Head of Business Development
Lauren serves as the Executive Director of Clinical Strategy and Head of Business Development for The Performance Lab, bringing 16 years of hands-on clinical expertise to enhance patient services. Her approach emphasizes effective, patient-specific interventions, quality assurance oversight, and the development of innovative programs for the Tampa Bay community.
Lauren holds both undergraduate and graduate degrees in physical therapy from the University of Connecticut. With an extensive background in neurological and orthopedic rehabilitation, she has honed her skills across various departments at both Tampa General Hospital and AdventHealth over the course of her career. She has also successfully built an outpatient physical therapy practice from the ground up, managing two locations.

Roger Rai
STRATEGIC ADVISOR TO THE CEO
As strategic advisor to the CEO, Roger leads the development of high-impact relationships with sports organizations, corporate partners, and community stakeholders. He brings a global perspective to partnership building, leveraging his extensive experience in business development, branded media, technology, and sports to expand TPL’s reach and influence.
Roger is well known in the sporting world for his work with the Toronto Blue Jays franchise and as a Special Advisor to the Chairman at Rogers Communications, where he provided strategic guidance on revenue growth, partnership development, and talent initiatives. He has also served as Managing Director of E.S. Rogers Enterprises and is the founder and a board member of the
ONEXONE Foundation, a charitable organization dedicated to global child welfare. His approach is shaped by a career at the intersection of sports, business, and philanthropy.

Lauren Tartaglione
ADVISOR TO THE CEO
As Advisor to the CEO at The Performance Lab, Lauren partners with the executive team on operations, business development, marketing, and strategy. She brings over 15+ years of leadership experience in provider engagement, daily operations, quality improvement, and value-based care—alongside leading marketing initiatives that elevate visibility and strengthen community relationships across hospitals and multi-specialty networks.
Having studied in Organizational Communications, Lauren is known for aligning clinical and administrative priorities, delivering results through performance, trust, and connection.
Executive Leadership

Dr. Darren Buono, MD
Medical Director of MRI
After completing fellowship, Dr. Buono joined a private practice radiology group in Tampa, Florida, where he was a partner and attending physician at St. Joseph's Hospital, a level II trauma center, and one of the busiest Emergency Departments by volume in the country. During Dr. Buono's career, he has interpreted and/or consulted on MRI and imaging studies on professional athletes from Major League Baseball, NFL, NBA, and the NHL including Hall of Famers and league MVPs. His clinical interests include MRI, Spine and Brain Imaging, and Orthopedic Imaging with special interest in DTI (Diffusion Tensor Imaging) and MRI of Spine and Extremity Injuries. Dr. Buono has vast experience in Trauma and Emergency Radiology as well as Neuroradiology and specifically Traumatic Brain Injury including DTI and NeuroQuant.

Dr. David Nolen, DPT
Director of Physical Therapy
Dr. David Nolen is a Doctor of Physical Therapy with extensive experience in orthopedic and performance rehabilitation. At The Performance Lab, he oversees a patient-first physical therapy program grounded in science, progress tracking, and real-world recovery. Dr. Nolen has held leadership and clinical roles at institutions including Florida Orthopedic Institute and the Applied Science & Performance Institute, with a background spanning sports injuries, post-surgical rehab, and neurological recovery.

Dr. Daniel Cooper, DC
Director of Chiropractic Medicine
Dr. Daniel Cooper brings a clinical, outcomes-focused approach to chiropractic care at The Performance Lab, working closely with the broader medical team to support patients recovering from musculoskeletal and neurological injuries. His expertise lies in diagnosing and treating complex movement dysfunctions, with an emphasis on restoring spinal integrity, optimizing joint mechanics, and accelerating functional recovery.
A former faculty member at the National University of Health Sciences, Dr. Cooper combines years of hands-on clinical experience with a deep understanding of biomechanics and rehabilitative strategy.

Dr. Cameron Gholampour
Director of PERFORMANCE CARE
Dr. Cameron Gholampour serves as Director of Sports Performance at The Performance Lab, where he applies his background in strength and conditioning and sports chiropractic to deliver movement-based and results-driven care. As a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician by the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians, Dr. Gholampour works predominantly with professional, collegiate, and recreational athletes, including many in Major League Baseball, and serves as the Medical Oversight and Chiropractor for USA Volleyball-Florida region. In addition, Dr. Gholampour serves in leadership roles with the FCA Sports and Rehab Council, the International Federation of Sports Chiropractic, and the ACA Sports Council.

Dr. Kareem Qaisi, DO
PHYSICIAN, PM & R +
INTERVENTIONAL PAIN MEDICINE
Dr. Kareem Qaisi, DO is a practicing physician joined TPL in September 2025.
Dr. Qaisi graduated with Honors from the Campbell University School of Medicine in 2020 and served as Chief Resident at the University of South Florida’s Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency program. He also completed subspecialty fellowship training in Interventional Pain Medicine at the University of South Florida.
Dr. Qaisi is currently board-certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and board-eligible in Pain Medicine. His medical interests include musculoskeletal medicine, emphasizing ultrasound for diagnostics and injections, regenerative medicine, and spasticity management, highlighted by his completion of the 2023 Emerging Leaders in Spasticity program.
Dr. Qaisi is an active member in numerous professional organizations.
